Here's a pic of my little cave. The mantel in the Murphy bed cutout, the added shelves above the half-height built ins, & the molding around the mirror were inexpensive ways to gussy up the apartment without anything but a few screw and boards. I found the mantel on Craigslist for less than $50 and the molding/screws/shelves were less than $30 at Home Depot. In all, it made a huge difference in my little square of a studio.
Here in the postage stamp bathroom is my effort at a mini spa. I lined the tub with black stones and secured them with a bit of scrap molding.
