Current Arrangement
It's been a while since this blog has been updated. As you know, I'm continually changing things in the nest. Here is the current status. The library ladder has become a little plant shelf in the open way to the sunroom. The salon wall has also been rearranged a bit. You'll notice the viking battle axe that was a birthday gift from my aunt Pat. Cheers. Make my day and leave a comment :)

Repurposing a Lamp
Life has been a bit crazy. I just finished a 6 week rotation that averaged 16 hours/day- not including study time. Toulouse (the cat) found very creative ways to communicate her displeasure, including the knocking over and shattering 3 panels on of my lovely slag glass table lamp.
Looking into having them replaced, local businesses cited me $70-120 per panel. Eep!
The lamp was temporarily placed by the door for future transport to the dumpster, an act that I procrastinated on because I loved that lamp. It was like having a canker sore. It was there, it annoyed me and yet I continued to look at it (poke at it with my tongue) and be annoyed.
Well, annoyance and procrastination paid off! It struck me that I could still use the shade in some way; so I glued the largest pieces of broken glass together. And, as is apparent by my overgrown flat, that way of repurpose (of course) was as a planter! I angled the broken bits to the windows so they're not as apparent. My little herb garden is stylin' now and Toulouse is saved, yet again, from a future as kitty-burgers.
Here's the planter surrounded by some recent brunch offerings:
And of course, the main room has been rearranged yet again. Here is a sneak peek at a future post.

Sammy, Front and Center.
Yes. I had an OSCE on Thursday and a shelf exam on Friday. Y'all know what that means..... An OTTGOP! (offering to the gods of procrastination). This time it was a rearrangement of the living room furniture and a new feline migration. Sammy has finally returned to the main room.
Tell me what y'all think.
Sharp eyes may notice that he's had a bit of a makeover with the help of some gold paint for his frame. I really like how he pops now.
The mirror that was in that place has made its way underneath the mantel. I'm pleased with the way that this turned out. The green satin cloth that was there had just a touch too much yellow to go with the drapes and rug. Now it's not so emesis-colored.
Tell me what y'all think.

Small Cool Rejects
Hello lovely internet people!
I'm excited that it's the time of year for Apartment Therapy's Small Cool Contest when hundreds of average people submit photos of their homes for our viewing pleasure. As y'all know, I like to rearrange stuff in my apartment and try new ways to decorate/organize/create comfort in my little nest. It's inspiring to peek at the different ways other people people do the same.
Last year, I was fortunate to have my entry selected to participate in the contest. I have my fingers crossed that the powers that be at AT will see something worthy in this years entry. As you know, we're only limited to 5 photos to represent our home and anyone who is a bohemian maximalist knows that that is no where near enough to show off all the pretties.
So here I present to you, the photos I've taken that did not make the cut. Cheers!
P.S. If my entry is selected to participate, I'll add the link to this post so anyone in the mood can vote for me!

the Succulent (re)Plantation and Lotus Light
Because the random little succulent garden around the fountain looked messy and, more importantly, was a pain in the butt to water/mist, I replanted them into the 3 matching dishes that I had stumbled upon at a thrift shop a couple of weeks ago. Now I love the new little garden under the window that is easier to care for. When the weather turns not-freezing, I'll take a park meander and collect some pebbles to dress up the pots.
Now for the lotus lights. These little suckers were relatively inexpensive ($25ea) but make a huge impact on this wall without eating up any valuable floor space. I'm really excited about them.
And another little floor-space saver: I bought the corbels online for a couple of dollars each, spray painted them gold and attached them to the back of the bar. I found while ordering spray paint online, it's cheaper to buy a six-pack than a couple of cans separately. So now I have a ton of gold spray paint. Huzzah! I've been gradually picking stuff to paint. Sammy's frame got a makeover as did the candlestick on the coffee table (you can see in the above photograph).
I am contemplating painting the coffee table base, the iron scroll work on the wicker chair and the lotus lamps. What do you all think? Should I go for it or leave the furniture and lights as are?
Cheers!
